April 10, 1979 Wichita Falls, Texas

NOTE: Unlike the rest of the weatherenthusiast.com website, these pictures are not taken by myself or any member of our group of friends. We were all 5-10 years old at most at this point. It was interesting growing up around people so terrified of weather after "Terrible Tuesday". They are presented with permission from the owner, Jane Austin, a resident and business owner in Wichita Falls.

If you are looking for more detailed information about this event, The National Weather Service has an excellent page swith links to lots of pictures, analysis, and other information at The Red River Valley Tornado Outbreak page.

The last picture, taken from the parking lot of Trade Winds Motor Hotel on Broad Street in Wichita Falls looking south down Broad Street as the tornado reaches the southeast corner of Wichita Falls.
