April 7, 2002....keeping up an April tradition

This day, we kept with our tradition of having at least one bad chase day every April. This year, we missed the Big One. (The famous Throckmorton wedge)

I made several primary mistakes. The mistake was not stopping in Wichita Falls and getting a better understanding of how things had changed since I'd left Yukon that morning. By the time we got to my original target area, the front had lifted to the north of us. Since we were already that far south, we decided to stay south: Another mistake. We saw crappy little storms and a crappy little squall line, and missed the tornado 40 miles away.

Clouds near I-20 that never got it together. Some goofy video captures below as we watched the squall line come through realizing that we had already destroyed the chase day. Below are two photos and some low res vidcaps as we stopped to watch the squall line.
