May 30, 2001 Wichita Falls landspout
On the afternoon of May 30th, the Wichita Falls area had a little excitement as a small tornado (more accurately referred to as a landspout in this case) touched down a few miles east of Wichita Falls. I was actually driving through town trying to get over to US281 to get to the other side of the storm when a funnel formed way up in the cloud and started to work it's way down. I have scanned two pictures of the landspout clearly showing it extending from cloud base to ground.
Click on either picture to get the much larger version of it.

We got in front of the slow moving storm and eventually gave up on watching it near dark south of Archer City, Texas. One more pretty cool pic from early in the chase just south of Wichita Falls, Texas. This was NOT a tornadic feature and had no rotation.
